Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Cornerstone English Coaching. These Terms & Conditions govern the purchase and use of Cornerstone English Coaching services. Please read them carefully before purchasing a lesson or lesson package.

By purchasing or scheduling a Cornerstone lesson, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions, together with Cornerstone's Privacy Policy and any other policies applicable to the services you purchase.

1. Services

Cornerstone English Coaching provides personalized English coaching for adults age 18 and older.

Individual Coaching

Individual coaching is provided strictly on a one-to-one basis (1:1), with one Cornerstone coach and one student.

Individual lessons are available in the following lengths:

  • 20 minutes
  • 30 minutes
  • 60 minutes
  • 90 minutes

Ninety-minute lessons are available only as individual 1:1 coaching.

Corporate Coaching

Corporate coaching may be provided in any of the following formats:

  • 1:1 — one coach and one participant
  • 1:2 — one coach and two participants
  • 1:3 — one coach and three participants
  • 1:4 — one coach and four participants

Corporate coaching does not include groups larger than four participants unless Cornerstone specifically agrees to a different arrangement in writing.

2. Purchasing Lessons

Lessons may be purchased individually or as part of a lesson package.

A package contains lessons of the same lesson length. Lesson lengths may not be mixed within a package.

Students may purchase additional lessons or packages while they still have unused lessons from a previous purchase. Each purchase remains subject to its own expiration date.

Payment is due in full at the time of purchase.

Payments are made through PayPal. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can create one with your card during checkout.

A lesson cannot be scheduled or provided unless payment has been successfully received.

3. Pricing and Discounts

Cornerstone may change its prices at its discretion.

The price paid at the time of purchase applies to that purchase. Future purchases will be charged at the price in effect at the time of the future purchase.

Package discounts are:

  • 5 lessons — 5% discount
  • 10 lessons — 10% discount
  • 20 lessons — 20% discount

Only one package discount may be applied to a package. Package discounts may not be combined with other package discounts and may not be transferred to another person.

Referral credits may be used in addition to a package discount when applicable. Referral credits are valid for six months from the date the referred person purchases a package.

4. Lesson Expiration

All lessons, whether purchased individually or as part of a package, must be completed within six months of the purchase date.

Any lessons that remain unused after six months will expire.

Scheduling a lesson before the expiration date does not extend the expiration period. The lesson must actually be completed within the six-month period.

Each separate purchase has its own six-month expiration period.

In exceptional circumstances, Cornerstone may consider an extension on a case-by-case basis.

5. Student Portal

Students will receive access to the Cornerstone student portal after purchasing a lesson or package.

The student portal is Cornerstone's standard channel for:

  • Scheduling and managing lessons
  • Communication with Cornerstone
  • Lesson-related questions
  • Lesson feedback
  • Other student-related information

Students are expected to use the student portal for normal Cornerstone business communication rather than email, text messages, or social media.

6. Scheduling

Students schedule their own lessons through the Cornerstone student portal.

Cornerstone does not schedule lessons on behalf of students.

Students may schedule as many purchased lessons as they wish at one time, subject to available appointment times.

Consecutive or multiple lessons on the same day may be scheduled when availability permits.

Students may schedule lessons up to six months in advance.

A minimum of 12 hours' notice is required to schedule a lesson.

Students schedule according to their own time zone. The scheduling system handles the applicable time-zone conversion for the coach.

Recurring weekly appointments may be arranged by scheduling each appointment individually. Cornerstone does not automatically reserve an ongoing series of appointments unless specifically arranged otherwise.

7. Cancellation and Rescheduling

Students may cancel or reschedule a scheduled lesson without penalty when at least six hours' notice is provided before the scheduled lesson.

When less than six hours' notice is provided, the lesson will normally be forfeited.

A student may reschedule an individual scheduled lesson a maximum of two times.

After two student-initiated reschedules, the lesson may not be rescheduled again. Any further cancellation or change will normally result in forfeiture of the lesson.

Changes made by Cornerstone do not count toward the student's two-reschedule limit.

Exceptional, emergency, or extreme circumstances may be considered by Cornerstone on a case-by-case basis.

Rescheduling a lesson does not change the lesson length.

8. Attendance and No-Shows

At the scheduled lesson time, Cornerstone will call the student using the contact method associated with the appointment.

If the student does not answer:

  • Cornerstone will allow the first call to ring for approximately 30 seconds and then end the call.
  • Cornerstone will wait approximately three minutes before making a second call.
  • Cornerstone will wait another approximately three minutes before making a third call.

If the student does not answer after all three calls, the student will be considered absent and the lesson will be forfeited.

Student lateness does not extend the scheduled lesson time and does not entitle the student to additional lesson time or a make-up lesson.

9. If Cornerstone Is Late or Cannot Provide the Lesson

Cornerstone will make reasonable efforts to begin lessons on time.

If Cornerstone is late or is unable to provide a scheduled lesson and the lesson cannot reasonably be completed as scheduled, the lesson will be rescheduled and the student will receive lesson credit for that appointment.

A change or cancellation initiated by Cornerstone will not count against the student's two-reschedule allowance.

10. Technology Problems and Circumstances Beyond Reasonable Control

Technology problems involving the student, coach, internet connection, scheduling system, communication platform, or other technology will be handled reasonably on a case-by-case basis.

Cornerstone will make reasonable efforts to provide scheduled lessons and maintain normal operations.

Circumstances beyond Cornerstone's reasonable control, including significant technology failures, internet or platform outages, natural disasters, government restrictions, or other extraordinary events, may require a lesson or service to be changed, postponed, or otherwise adjusted.

Such circumstances will be addressed reasonably and, where appropriate, on a case-by-case basis.

11. Student Participation and Preparation

The student will not be required to do anything outside of attending the purchased lesson.

Cornerstone does not require:

  • Homework
  • Advance preparation
  • A notebook or pen
  • A computer
  • Note-taking
  • Completion of the English Skills Diagnostic
  • Completion of any prerequisite activity
  • Any particular level of participation

Students are welcome to do whatever they personally find helpful during or between lessons.

Cornerstone may make recommendations based on professional observation and experience, but students are not required to follow those recommendations.

Students determine how much they choose to put into their coaching experience, and Cornerstone will work with them to make the lesson as useful as possible.

12. Lesson Focus

Students may request the areas they would like to work on during their lessons.

Depending on the student's goals and needs, Cornerstone may recommend areas that could benefit from additional development.

The student's requested focus will be respected. A student may also choose to work on an area in which they are already proficient because they want to become even stronger in that area.

The Cornerstone English Skills Diagnostic, when completed, may also be used to help identify areas for instruction.

13. Video and Phone Lessons

Students may choose either a video lesson or a phone-call lesson when scheduling.

The selected format applies to the scheduled appointment and is not changed during the lesson.

If a student wishes to change the format, the appointment must be changed in advance through the normal scheduling process.

14. English Skills Diagnostic

Students who purchase a package may receive access to the Cornerstone English Skills Diagnostic.

The diagnostic is completely optional.

Students are not required to complete the diagnostic before their first lesson or at any time.

The diagnostic consists of 55 questions designed to provide information that may help Cornerstone identify areas for focused instruction.

Cornerstone retains and interprets the diagnostic information. Students do not receive a diagnostic score or the diagnostic's underlying results.

Cornerstone may use information from the diagnostic when determining instructional recommendations, but the student remains free to choose what they would like to work on during their lessons.

15. Lesson Feedback

After each lesson, Cornerstone will provide feedback through the student portal.

Feedback may include mistakes identified during the lesson and the appropriate way to say or write them, including:

  • Pronunciation corrections
  • Grammar corrections
  • Other relevant language corrections

Feedback is provided to support the student's learning and may be used by the student in whatever way they find helpful.

Students are not required to complete additional work based on the feedback.

16. Lesson Recording

All Cornerstone coaching lessons are recorded.

Recording is a standard part of Cornerstone's coaching service.

Recordings allow Cornerstone to review lessons after they have concluded, including reviewing specific portions of a lesson when necessary to clarify or verify information discussed during the session, identify something that may have been missed during the lesson, support accurate feedback, and maintain appropriate coaching records.

Recordings are treated as confidential and are handled in accordance with Cornerstone's Privacy Policy and applicable law.

The collection, storage, use, retention, and protection of lesson recordings and other personal information are governed by Cornerstone's Privacy Policy and applicable privacy laws.

Students should review Cornerstone's Privacy Policy before purchasing or scheduling lessons.

17. Student Recordings

Students may record their own lessons for personal and informational use.

Student-made recordings may not be:

  • Published publicly
  • Distributed to other people
  • Sold
  • Used commercially
  • Posted on social media or other public platforms
  • Otherwise made available to the public

18. Confidentiality

Cornerstone respects the confidentiality of information shared during coaching.

This may include personal information, workplace information, employer information, professional goals, learning difficulties, and other information shared in connection with coaching.

Students are likewise expected to respect the confidentiality of Cornerstone information and any information concerning other students.

Cornerstone's handling of personal information is further described in its Privacy Policy.

19. Materials and Intellectual Property

Materials created or provided by Cornerstone, including lesson materials, exercises, documents, written feedback, and other original educational content, remain the property of Cornerstone unless otherwise stated.

Students are provided access to these materials for their own personal educational use.

Students may not reproduce, redistribute, resell, publish, commercially use, or otherwise share Cornerstone materials without written permission from Cornerstone.

20. Transfers and Gifts

Lessons are not transferable.

A student may not transfer an individual lesson, unused lesson, package, or portion of a package to another person.

A student may not substitute another person for themselves in a purchased lesson.

Gift purchases are permitted when lessons are purchased specifically as a gift for another person.

Gift purchases remain subject to the original purchase date. The six-month expiration period does not restart when the gift recipient receives or begins using the lessons.

Unused gift lessons expire six months after the original purchase date.

Package discounts and other student-specific benefits may not be transferred.

21. Refunds

Payments are non-refundable.

Unused lessons are not refundable.

Refunds are not provided because a student:

  • Changes their mind
  • Is dissatisfied with the service
  • Decides to stop taking lessons
  • No longer wants the lessons
  • Has completed their goals
  • Does not use purchased lessons
  • Fails to schedule or attend lessons
  • Has lessons remaining when the six-month expiration period ends

If Cornerstone terminates a student relationship, unused lessons are also non-refundable, subject to any rights that cannot legally be waived.

Any refund or cancellation right required by applicable law will be honored.

22. Termination

Cornerstone may terminate a student's coaching relationship at its discretion.

Cornerstone may also end a lesson or terminate a student relationship because of inappropriate, abusive, threatening, disruptive, dishonest, or otherwise unacceptable conduct.

If Cornerstone terminates a student relationship, any unused lessons will be forfeited and will not be refunded, subject to any rights that cannot legally be waived.

Termination does not create a refund right except where required by applicable law.

23. Payment Disputes and Chargebacks

Students should contact Cornerstone through the student portal if they have a concern regarding a payment.

Lessons will not continue when payment has not been successfully received.

An improper, unauthorized, or fraudulent payment dispute or chargeback may result in immediate termination of the student's coaching relationship.

If a student relationship is terminated because of an improper payment dispute or chargeback, unused lessons will not be refunded, subject to applicable law.

24. No Guaranteed Results

Cornerstone provides English instruction, coaching, feedback, recommendations, and guidance.

Cornerstone does not guarantee any particular result, including:

  • A specific level of English proficiency
  • Fluency
  • A particular test score
  • Employment or a new job
  • Promotion
  • Increased salary
  • Business opportunities
  • Academic results
  • Any other personal or professional outcome

Students are responsible for deciding how they use the instruction, feedback, and opportunities provided through coaching.

25. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Cornerstone English Coaching and its owner will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or other losses arising from or related to the use of Cornerstone services.

This may include, to the extent permitted by law, loss of business opportunities, employment opportunities, income, profits, data, or other anticipated benefits, as well as consequences arising from technology failures, interruptions, scheduling problems, or circumstances outside Cornerstone's reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude or limit any liability or legal right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

26. Death of the Coach

If the owner and coach of Cornerstone English Coaching dies, any unused lessons that remain valid at the time of death will be refunded.

27. Changes to These Terms & Conditions

Cornerstone may update or modify these Terms & Conditions as the business develops.

Changes will apply to future purchases and arrangements.

Cornerstone will not retroactively change the terms applicable to a purchase that has already been made, except where a change is required by applicable law.

28. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are intended to be governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, subject to applicable law.

Any dispute will be addressed through the appropriate courts or legal venues in the Philippines, subject to applicable law and any mandatory rights or requirements that may apply.

29. Agreement to These Terms

By purchasing or scheduling a Cornerstone English Coaching lesson or package, the student acknowledges that they have had the opportunity to review these Terms & Conditions and agrees to be bound by the terms applicable to the services purchased.

If a student does not agree to these Terms & Conditions, they should not purchase or schedule Cornerstone services.
